The passing of Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old engineer from Bengaluru, has sparked intense social media indignation and brought up pressing issues about Indian men’s justice. Before committing suicide, Subhash, a senior IT expert, left behind a 90-minute video and a 24-page suicide note in which he accused his divorced wife, her relatives, and a family court judge of harassing him nonstop.

Subhash accused his wife, Nikita Singhania, her mother, Nisha Singhania, brother, Anurag Singhania, and uncle, Sushil Singhania, of causing him suffering in his last messages. He also accused Jaunpur family court judge Reeta Kaushik of making him feel worse. On the basis of a complaint submitted by Subhash’s brother, Bikas Kumar, the Bengaluru police filed a formal case against the accused under sections 108 and 3(5) of the BNS.

Accenture, where Subhash’s wife works, has been the target of a major outpouring of ire. Her removal has been demanded by social media users; one person said on X (previously Twitter), “Dear Accenture, you have 24 hours to fire the murderer of Atul Subhash.”
