Sukumar is the director of the upcoming action drama film Pushpa 2: The Rule, which is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers in partnership with Sukumar Writings in Telugu. With Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjaya, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, and Anasuya Bharadwaj, Allu Arjun plays the film’s title character. It is the follow-up to the 2021 movie Pushpa: The Rise and the second movie in the Pushpa film series.
A few days before the first movie came out in December 2021, the sequel was formally revealed under the title Pushpa 2, and in August 2022, Pushpa 2: The Rule was added as a subtitle. Ten percent of the movie’s footage was first filmed together with the original. However, Sukumar changed the plot, and as a result, main filming for the movie started in October 2022. Devi Sri Prasad wrote the film’s music, Mirosław Kuba Brożek handled photographs, and Naveen Nooli handled the editing. The film belongs to the most expensive Indian productions, having been made on a budget of ₹400–500 crore.

Promotion
The announcement peek video and first-look poster were released on April 8, 2023, which was also Allu Arjun’s 41st birthday.One year later, on April 8, 2024, Arjun’s 42nd birthday fell on the same day as the premiere of the movie’s trailer. On October 24, 2024, a large press conference was planned in Hyderabad to reveal the movie’s new release date.
The film’s advertisements are planned in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Patna, Kolkata, and Mumbai. On November 17, 2024, a trailer for the movie was unveiled amid an enormous crowd in Gandhi Maidan, Patna.
Business before to release
With a total pre-release income of ₹1085 crores from both theatrical and non-theatrical sales, the movie set a record for the biggest pre-release income in India.
The movie’s theatrical rights brought in around ₹640 crore (US$77 million) before it was released. For ₹220 crore (US$26 million), the distribution rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were sold. For ₹200 crore (US$24 million), the distribution rights for the Hindi version were sold. The movie’s total earnings from distribution in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala cinemas was ₹100 crore, or $12 million USD. The sale price of the international distribution rights was ₹140 crore, or US$17 million. Non-theatrical rights, such as digital, satellite, and music rights, brought in an additional ₹425 crore (US$51 million).
